Show me where!
Answers to common questions, and a real person to email.
Need help? Email animagix@mac.com and describe what happened. Telling us your iPhone model and what you were doing when it went wrong helps us fix it faster.
It remembers where the important things in your home are — the water shutoff, the breaker panel, the safe, the Wi-Fi router — so that you, your family, or a caregiver can find them later. You take photos, mark where things are, and the app keeps it all in one place you can search.
Tap through the welcome screens and the app creates a home for you. Then add a room, give it a name like "Kitchen," and start taking photos of the things that matter. Tap a photo to add a note about what it is.
On iPhones with a LiDAR sensor (iPhone 12 Pro and later Pro models), you can walk around a room and the app builds a 3D model of it. You can then place pins in that 3D space and revisit the room later from any angle. Every iPhone can use the standard photo-based rooms, which need no special hardware.
Walk slowly and take steps around the room rather than standing in one place and turning — the camera needs to see surfaces from more than one position. Keep a normal walking pace, aim at furniture, corners, and doorways, and give bright windows a wide berth. Surfaces turn blue as they are captured, so you can see what still needs a pass.
Open Settings in the app. "Share a printable guide" creates a PDF anyone can open and read — no app required, which is usually the best choice for family. "Share with trusted person" sends a full copy that another Show me where! user can import into their app.
Yes, if iCloud Drive is turned on. The app quietly saves a backup to your own private iCloud storage. When you set up a new iPhone and install the app, it offers to restore that backup for you.
Install the app and sign in to the same Apple Account you used before. On first launch, the app looks for your iCloud backup and asks if you want to restore it. You can also restore any time from Settings.
Yes — every feature, for everyone. There is an optional tip jar in Settings if you would like to support development, but it unlocks nothing and you never have to use it.
On your iPhone, and in your own iCloud backup if you have iCloud Drive enabled. We never receive it. See the privacy policy for details.
No. There is no sign-up and no password to remember. The app works the moment you install it.
The app needs camera permission. Open iOS Settings, find Show me where!, and turn Camera on.
The app asks you to walk around the room before saving, because photos taken from a single spot can't build an accurate 3D model. Take a few slow steps to different parts of the room and the Finish button will become available. In very small rooms like a closet, the app relaxes this after a while.
